About the pyramid:

The Pink Pyramid, the third and last pyramid Sneferu built, is only a few kilometers north of the Bent Pyramid. A smooth pyramid has never been built, but this one is now done. This is Egypt’s third-largest pyramid, after the Pyramids of Khufu and Khafre in Giza.

The Pink Pyramid is the first “real” pyramid and has the second largest base of all the pyramids in Egypt. Even more interesting is the fact that tourists can see the inside of this pyramid.

Funerary temple:

Part of the pyramid’s east side has been cleared of rocks and sand, so we can now get closer to it. The original white face of the pyramid, which was brought from the quarries of Tura, can be seen on this side. On the eastern side of the pyramid, there was also a tiny tomb temple, which was likely built first out of stone and then finished with mud bricks after the pharaoh died.

By the Middle Ages, almost all of the stones from the temple and pyramid had been taken away, and the clay bricks that made up the temple’s base were changed.

Pyramid Companion:

Pieces of the crumbling top of the companion pyramid were put back together, and the new structure can be seen at the temple’s base. On the right side of the temple, there is a root hole, which shows that trees used to grow in the temple garden.

This pyramid used to have two entrances, one on the north side and one on the west side. If we go south to the crumbling structure, we can see that they were on the north and west sides, respectively. The small pyramid in the south often called the satellite pyramid, is in perfect shape.

It was probably built to hold the ka (soul) of the pharaoh or to look like Abydos, where Egypt’s first kings were buried. Also, on the east side of the pyramid is a small chapel that doesn’t look like much, but it may hold the name-bearing stelae of Sneferu.
